About

We are all made up of male and female elements. In every one of us there is a cast of characters: the man, the woman and the child, and my work reflects this.
I am deeply rooted in my own psychology and every picture depicts some aspect of where I am in relation to myself, my family and the world. Everything that I do can be considered to be self-revealing and thus, a self-portrait.
I depict male and female elements forming a balance and a harmony within a landscape. I live a contemplative life and all the images appear from deep within my unconscious. I never know, in advance, what will be dredged up from the depths. Some images take many years to reach a conclusion but there is no hurry.
I speak of unspoken things. Things that lie deep within me and perhaps within us all. Things that seldom surface into consciousness. Remaining hidden or half-hidden until, one day, they press themselves upon us. Forcing us to face unpalatable truths and uncomfortable situations. Forcing us to look over the edge into the abyss. I deal with themes of Love and Life and Loss.
And, it’s these things that have a deep and lasting effect on us all. But they need to be dredged up from the depths and brought into the light of day. Once they are brought into the light, then, and only then, can they be faced and resolved, enabling us to grow and move on .Leaving behind that which was holding us back, stifling our very emotions and our ability to lead open and responsive lives. To be able to enjoy our emotions and feelings to the full, with no holding back.
